Grassy Spur OlivesThe Grassy Spur olive grove was established in 2005 and is situated in the green rolling hills of South Gippsland in Victoria known for its clean air and excellent rainfall. A family run olive grove, Grassy Spur takes pride in hand picking each harvest, where they are processed within 24 hours with a small local press. Grassy Spur is the local name for the area where the grove is situated, on the hills overlooking the Stony Creek Racecourse. The grove is approximately 20 acres in total: 12 acres of olives and 3 acres of house and gardens. The Grassy Spur Olive Grove was planted initially in 2004 with about 700 trees. Further plantings occurred over the following years and there are now over 1000 trees. We have three separate groves containing the following:
Picual is used as the main pollinator across all of the groves. We have also introduced Beehives in the grove to enhance pollination which is mainly based on wind. |
